The ample vineyard of Chardonnay grapes
in the Caseo Estate is bordered by a wood resembling a thick
wall, that interrupts the vines delicate landscape. In old
times the name of vineyards were usually given from typical
features of the environment where they grew (i.e. Soleggia,
Rivi, La Costa). For this reason the vineyard of Chardonnay
grapes, which is bordered by a wood, was named "I Ronchi"
from the Italian word: RONCO = without exit, with no outlet.
The Caseo Estate maintained this name for its precious Chardonnay
wine made from the grapes of this vineyard.
